Keeping it simple

Sometimes, when I am alone n the house and I am surrounded by deadlines for school, or I think I have not done enough to take care of my family, I revert back to my early teenage years. I expect my mother to come out from somewhere and start...

Ok 3rd time's the charm... even though I'm 45 years old, there are many times when things aren't going the way they should be and I actually catch myself holding my breath for a few seconds because I'm waiting for my father to walk into the room and begin to yell, fight with me and call me one of the endless plethora of names he used to call me when he got upset with me. He's been dead almost 20 years. I don't know if it's truly possible to finally and completely get myself to the point where I'm not mentally prepared for the backlash that exists in my mind. All i can do is take it one day at a time. Stay strong and you'll never go wrong! Love you monster family

Make you shine

It wasn't until my late 20s, that I found my shine. For almost thirty years it was hiding behind the physical, mental, and sexual abuse that I had endured. I was also bullied in school, not only for my appearance, but for the actions of what my...

Be your own flower

We tend to look at others with judgemental eyes and maybe even wish we were them. But deep down, that other person may be going through their own personal conflict. Let's not be the focus on what they have or don't have, because maybe you have...

We spend way too much time on worrying about what the next person is thinking about us when it really doesn't matter what they think. What matters is what *you* think about yourself. Especially during our school years, we worry about what the popular kids think about us. Eventually you will realize that it was a total waste of time worrying about them. You will find that those people peaked when they were in high school then spend the rest of their lives trying to chase and reclaim the glory they had then. When you graduate, you move on in your life and most find that they never see the people they went to school with again. You realise that their opinions really didn't mean anything. You find that they only bullied you because they were worried that this was their big moment in life. I know a few people from high school who fall in this category and am saddenned that they reached the peak of what life held for them during high school. You'll find that as you get older, what others think of you really doesn't matter anymore. You, as a unique individual, are what matters and what you chose to contribute to the world is how you are measured. Put positives out there, love one another, help each other and be the best person you can possibly be. Bloom where you're planted and don't be afraid to help others find their inner flower!

No more bad....

What I once called #extendinglove is now being called #ProjectYou. Today's message is simple and something that I tell my son and daughter every morning.....think of something positive! It can be very difficult to wake up and believe there is...

I absolutely love this! We spend too much time dwelling on the negative aspects of our lives that we tend to miss the positives. No matter how down in the dumps you may be, you can always look around you and find the beauty in life. Whether it be a skyline of a large city, a cornfield, a park, music, friendship, etc. There is always something, if you just take the time to look for it.

Today I went back to school for cross country. I wore a shirt that they didn't like with my VIP pass to an upcoming concert. All the boys were making fun of me calling me a fan girl and everyone who saw me made comments about me and they all looked...

Zach, Don't listen to them. Be who you are and be proud of it, no matter what. After you graduate, they won't matter... AT ALL! I graduated high school over 25 years ago and to be honest with you, the only ones who matter are the few who I've stayed in touch with on purpose. In a few years you'll discover that "overacheivers" lives peaked while they were in high school and they crashed and burned as soon as it was over. They will spend the rest of their lives reliving high school because that was it for them. The best revenge is building a successful life for yourself, making a positive contribution to the world and being the best person you can be! You got this! Paws up!
