It wasn't until my late 20s, that I found my shine. For almost thirty years it was hiding behind the physical, mental, and sexual abuse that I had endured. I was also bullied in school, not only for my appearance, but for the actions of what my mother had been doing. People had assumed I was like her. I was not! I finally gave up. I quit school at 16 and moved away from home. I had to go through so much more before I realized that I had sparkle. From the deepest pits of darkness, I finally came out shining.
