One of my teachers stood in front of my class today and told us why bullying is okay. I am furious.

she told us that bullying is okay because some people deserve it. she said that bullying could "help make gays and freaks of society come back to reality" i am just so mad. I could not believe that a 40 year old woman was saying this to a bunch of...

That is really awful. She doesn't understand bullying and the effect that it has on people. This is not uncommon because people who see the world through the conservative worldview have hard time understanding the desire for fairness and equality because they filter experience through authority, loyalty and sanctity. She expects that people should, ought to and must obey tradition, rules, (like religion or the cultural order) and most importantly, she thinks that people should work to "fit in". So in this sense, you can be empathic toward her lack of an ability to "get it". She need help to understand and while she is wrong in saying these things she is responding to bullying through a conservative worldview. So, since she is in authority and will not respond well to your efforts to help her "understand", in this case, it would clearly be helpful to reach out to another adult about this for help. This should be person who gets it... either inside the school or out (as others have mentioned, either a parent or a guidance counselor?) that can help you figure out how to best address this issue. Sorry. Be brave! Stand up! Good luck!

That is really awful. I am not sure that it helps you situation but I think that many people have hard time understanding the desire for fairness and equality because they filter experience through authority, loyalty and sanctity; this is where people get the conservative impulse toward obeying the tradition, rules of religion, etc. So in this sense, you can be empathic toward her lack of an ability to "get it". She is wrong in doing this but she is responding to bullying through a conservative worldview. CONCERNS: Why I may be leaving littlemonsters.com

So. Recently, I had posted my rant on what has been going on on this website. It is out of control and occurring more and more. I also feel like this site is a popularity contest to see how many more likes you get, who has the most followers, who...

I agree. I find things right now to be generally on the superficial side in that it is more focused on fan-based celebration of all that is the best of Gaga-ness and less focused upon what she stands for in terms of creativity, individuality, empowering others, being supportive and not hateful, etc. So in this sense, a general effort (and thought) needs to be focused upon how this site can be made more meaningful for people (like you) who are looking to express themselves, build community and make friends in this context. I think that you should give it some time and keep in mind that this is a new platform; nothing like this has been done before. I know the Backplane team is working on stuff; they just haven't tackled this aspect yet. It will get better. This site is kind of like the Old West frontier... it is a big experiment, all built upon Gaga's vision for better world. Creating awesomeness often takes time and feedback. Use the feedback tab on the lower left to tell the developers how they can make the site better.

PUSSY RIOT

All LITTLE MONSTERS, I've just learned that in Moscow, Pride marches have just been banned for 100 years. Anti-gay activists are using the Russian government's gay gag laws to sue Madonna for $10,000,000 because she spoke up for the LGBT...

I posted something on this a few days ago but it did not get any traction... Agreed. Considering how much public attention that this case is drawing worldwide, I believe that it is something worth discussing. Madonna has spoken out recently saying, "I protest the conviction and sentencing of Pussy Riot to a penal colony for two years for a 40 second performance extolling their political opinions. Even if one disagrees with the location or how they chose to express themselves, the sentence is too harsh and in fact is inhumane. I call on all those who love freedom to condemn this unjust punishment. I urge artists around the world to speak up in protest against this travesty. They've spent enough time in jail. I call on ALL of Russia to let Pussy Riot go free." Perhaps, Gaga should make a statement here... no? I mean after all she is the most followed person on Twitter.
