I sense she is objectifying the microphone to singing. It seems as if she knows that as life goes on, the cord around her neck will get tighter and tighter, but she is willing to accept the struggle since it is rewarding. (The jewels). There also is a struggle of prioritizing either fame or morals. She tries to reason that her hair or freedom of being human and being able to mess up can hide her flesh or mistakes and keep her safe in a good girls eyes, but even the hair doesn't fully cover her. She also is skimpy, to appeal to secular beliefs of fame. Gaga looks at her hand to to acknowledge her gloves are Christian values. She wants to still keep them and be modest, like her suit is trying to be, but her fingers/flesh/mistakes are growing out of them. This photo, I believe, speaks along the lines of trying to find a balance between the two, but by being distracted by that concept, materialistic fame is what is going to be the death of her. However, all the while she only cares about that one microphone, The Fame.
