I have to say. This movie is special. Much to my surprise the impact it had on me was surprisingly powerful. The magic of it was its ability to move you in unexpected ways. My girlfriend (who has had a drinking problem) which I was unaware of until minutes after the movie when I learned that she was in rehab. Ironically, so have I which I am now planning on telling her about as a result of her confiding in me. Scene by scene it eased our burdens of hiding pain from one another - in a magical way only someone like a lady gaga can do. It brought to light several issues for the two of us but also her fathers mental health issues - which ended with his own suicide after spiraling into a depression that lead to alcholism and him taking his life I believe watching this unfold was hard but gave her some closure. She cringed during the lead up to the last scene and began welling up once she knew what was coming. Cooper acting and singing great but Gagas contribution is always slightly different from the norm. She has a way of opening up hearts and minds through her personality. For me it has exceeded expectations in terms of my bi sexuality which I love. For this I am grateful but esp. how she has managed to bring my girlfriend and I closer together through this film. To be continued ... I am scared to tell her but it's the next logical step.
