Happy 7th Anniversary, #BornThisWay! I can’t even begin to explain how much pride this song has given me as a #bisexual woman. When this song came out, I was still struggling with asserting my identity in a lot of ways, and I still was having a hard time gaining my parents’ acceptance. Times were tough, and I often felt at a loss. The fact that a song came out on the radio with the lyrics “No matter gay, straight, or bi, lesbian, transgender life, I’m on the right track, baby, I was born to survive” blew my mind. It’s hard to remember with all the strides the queer community has made in recent history, but back then, that kind of overt support for our community in the media was so rare - almost unheard of, frankly. These days I am so much more confident and happy, and I fully believe Born This Way has a huge part in that. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart, @LadyGaga!
