I found this kinda entertaining...
So, I post this long comment (unintentionally, as usual) about ARTPOP and I was looking online to copy and paste some lyrics to quote and stumbled across one of my favourite sites - genius.com (Rap Genius, Pop Genius etc.). Found some cool stuff which I posted as pictures which I thought was pretty amusing given the post I'd made about ARTPOP. :P
"I actually purchased it twice. Had it ordered on iTunes, I couldn't get iTunes up while I was at University so on the day of release I purchased an MP3 copy from 7Digital and I was not disappointed.
I do definitely feel like the tracks were a lot more experimental than her previous releases, but I also feel as though they were not created to enter the charts. I kinda get the impression that ARTPOP was less of an "album" per se, but rather a collection of ideas. An experiment, perhaps, a fusion. Or as she literally titled it, a fusion between 'ART' and 'POP'.
I liked it. It felt like a great change in pace from her usual work, her previous albums do have, either intentionally, or unintentionally an 80's inspired sound (to my ears at least), but this album was very modern, very in your face, very edgy and not really radio play 'suitable'.
Mock all you like about this album being a flop, or complain that it didn't chart, or that there were a limited number of singles, or videos, but frankly, I get the impression that the idea of this album was not about commercial success, or forcefully shoving it down the world's throat. It was more of a laid back 'If you want it, buy it. If you don't want it, don't buy it."
Her ARTPOP could mean anything and that, my fellow little monster, is what it means to me."
