Meet the Dancers: Gianinni Semedo Moreira
In this segment of #MeetTheDancers get to know Gianinni Semedo Moreira from Rotterdam, Holland!
**Tell us a bit about your dance history:**
I started dancing when I was 15. I started mainly with breakdance, but soon I started exploring different styles within the urban world. By the time I was 18, I had my first Ballet class, along with Jazz & Contemporary. At the age of 20, the popular TV Show "So You Think You Can Dance" had it's first season in Holland and I auditioned. I made it to the live shows and ended 3rd place. This changed my life and a year after, at the age of 21, I moved to Los Angeles, to pursue my dreams as a performer.
**How do you prepare to go on stage:**
Before going on stage I always like to zone out of a bit, calm before the storm. Talk to my girlfriend, my family, listen to music or even watch a movie. My body completely relaxes and in a way charges up with energy. I then warm up closer to the show time and my body gets into show mode, ready to realize all the love and energy inside of me!
**What’s your favorite part of traveling:**
My favorite part of traveling is definitely being in different cultures, countries and all sorts of people. I am inspired by different stories of people around me, with different backgrounds. I love to learn about the history of the world and traveling is 1 of the best way in life to enrich yourself as a human being I believe.
**What do you do on your day off:**
On my days off I of course rest my body. But I also like to explore the city I'm in, meet up with friends if I have them in that city, Skype with my family, but also I take the time to write & study, as my goal is to become a Film Writer & Director.
**Favorite Gaga song:**
Can I pick a few or just 1…? Just 1 is a bit difficult, haha. But APPLAUSE always hypes me up, I love the beat, I love the feeling it gives me. Even if I would not be on tour with Gaga, I would get up and dance as soon as I would hear that song.
**If I weren’t dancing, I would be:**
If I wouldn't be dancing, I think I would maybe be a pro-soccer player. I played on a high level when I was younger. But maybe I would also end up doing something in the entertainment industry, like Directing.
**Any special message for LittleMonsters:**
I had big dreams when I started dancing and every day I have to pinch myself to see if this is really reality: I'm dancing for the most iconic artist of our generation. If I can achieve things I believe in, TRUST ME; YOU can as well! Always follow your heart, always remember that life itself is a precious gift and it is so short, so live it to the fullest. You'll make mistakes and it won't always be easy. But remember that the only person that can really stop you, is yourself. Give everything, and I mean EVERYTHING you got. Don't just take no for an answer. GO FOR IT!!!!!!
1 of my favorite quotes:
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
