Venus was supposed to be the lead single of ARTPOP (because it's experimental and still pop) but DWUW became more popular so that's why they switched in my opninion
no offense to Gaga, i love this song, i really do, but i think it would have been like G.U.Y., a big 'flop' on the radios, few views on Youtube/VEVO that we couldnt beat the record.
I really kind of wish it or Gypsy was released as the second single. I feel like Applause, Gypsy, MANiCURE and GUY should have been the four singles. (In that order)
well remember she said that ACT II will have more radio friendly songs.... and that Act I has more experimental stuff. So probably next act will give her the crown back
Venus was obviously planned as the second single, we can see that video of Applause made explicit, I believe that the exchange of singles caused a big mess, because everything was already planned, so it was thrown out because of Do What U Want, causing just a mess in disclosure.
I believe wholeheartedly that Gaga should have spend some big-ass ton of money to produce a video that is worthy of this amazing, atmospheric out-of-this-world song! Like, I'm talking BIG production. Venus deserves sooooo so so so so much more recognition - it is an fantastic and well-crafted song, if you give it a good listen. I believe that Venus as a planned single would have done well if people were given the chance to experience this song in imagery, perhaps it would help on it's not-so-radio-friendly tune. For christ sake, it is the second song on the album, this song is supposed to carry the shit, and yet it has been dropped so fucking hard to the ground like it was nothing. Makes me so mad. I ADORE Venus! Grand song!
