And so Hercules donned the tunic that Deianeira gave to him, but it was poisoned with the tainted blood of a centaur. It burned and ripped at his flesh, causing him excruciaing pain. Until the the only recourse was to throw himself into the pyre that he made for his own funeral. And that is how Hercules died, and that is how he was lifted to godhood. Your picture reminded me of that story.
