HELP

Is there any monsters out there that can help me with 'coming out' to my parents? I've been with my girlfriend for over a year, and I have no idea what to say or how to say it. I don't really have anyone to talk to about this, apart from my girlfriend who has been an angel. Everyone is always like 'just tell them, they're your parents- they'll still love you' ...but I'm not so sure... How have any of you coped if, sadly, you've not been accepted? I totally understand that it's could be really hard to tell that to your parents, but i think the better way to tell that it's to be honest with them, and explain to us thats you're happy like that and it's not a bad thing to be lesbian :) (sorry for my bad english and i'm not sure that i helped you so much but i give you my opinion :) ) xoxo

You should just tell your parents "I have a girlfriend" and see how they react. I did it this way, and they totally accepted it. Even my grandma did!

I just came out to my parents last week.. It was so so hard but I feel so go right now. All my life i've been acting like I was someone else, hiding my self, my bf, my friends.. My mom cried so much this days, but I dont care. I wasnt being honest with them and with myself living that life. It's hard and sad at the beginning but feels so good after. Sorry 4 my english. If you think you need to tell them, do it, at least you won't have this on your mind anymore. I think writing a letter is not the best way to do it, it's as you were hiding behind words on a paper, not telling them directly. Make sure you know what to say and be sincere. And if they don't accept it, don't care about it because it's not your fault. And you still have your girlfriend, and maybe it's not the case now but you will have friends who will like you just the way you are. By the way I like these photos and I find you're really cute together :). And I find your girlfriend looks like Liv Ullmann, an actress. So I hope everything's going to be fine.

I think telling your parents is important. So they know the real you. In the end no matter their reaction they're going to love you. good luck!

It's easier if you just come home with her, saying: this is my girlfriend. It's easier then "the talk" with your parents.

I'm in the exact same position! My gf is out n everything and understands, but I can't come out to my parents cause they always make comments about lgbt and stuff n I know they won't accept it...it's hard... I don't think I could come out to them any time soon

I know everyone says "they're your parents, they'll love you either way," but its true. Chances are they already have suspicions about it anyways. Even if they are a little put off at first, they will come around sooner or later, I'm sure. Especially if they see how happy you are with her. I never had to deal with coming out, but I was scared of telling my parents about my boyfriend because he is a different race than me. Yes, sadly, my parents are living in the past, and all I heard my whole life was that whoever i brought home "better be white." They seemed uneasy about it at first, but now that they know him and see how happy I am, they are perfectly fine with it. I think you will feel relieved to finally get it over with. By the way, you two make a great couple! :)

My mom keep asking me if i was gay and I would deny it. I finally gotten up the courage to tell her I was gay and she supported me. I know it can be hard just try in set down with your parents and tell them. No matter what happens they well always love you. If your in love with someone they should be happy for you cuz that what parents want for their kids. Good luck with this. Be brave :)

That's going to sound stupid because I am myself a lesbian in the closet but I'm in a long distance relationship for almost 2 years and I'm not 18 yet (will be this year) and my dad is a homophobe. So anyways lol just come to them and tell them "mom, dad, there's this woman. She's my best friend, I love her more than anything. I'm truly in love with her for already over a year. You chose to accept it or not but your opinion won't change my feelings to her." Plus, never be sorry! it's not your fault you were born that way! if they ask way tell them it's biological and it already happened when your mom carried you in her belly. Good luck sweetheart! tell them when you feel the time is right, the words will come to you naturally. just because you've been together for over a year doesn't mean your ready to tell them. try and avoid sitting down and giving a speech and breaking down because that will be harder on you..try bringing up the topic of homosexuality and their views on it and how they'd feel if you were a lesbian, then you can just say it. But at the end of the day it's your decision to tell them and I'm sure they'll be proud of you no matter what..just expect them to be a bit shocked or upset at first it's only natural

I don't know how your parents are, I think every "coming out" is different. In my case it was like this: (I'm Bi) I never really pretended to be straight, so sometimes I would just drop comments like "...my future husband or wife..." (not on purpose, I just said it, because that's just what i see when I think about my future). Then one day my mom invited me to have ice cream and she asked me if I like boys or girls and I told her I like both. She said that she actually never thought about having a gay child but that it's okay. And that was it. It wasn't even awkward or anything. Maybe you can bring your girlfriend to your house and just introduce her as your girlfriend?

I just didn't tell em.. They understood themselves. That's it. I wasn't even bothered to tell em because I knew there wouldn't be any problems. I'm lucky, my parents are pretty cool.. I can't complain about them. Plus, I wouldn't be bothered by them if they wouldn't approve. That's simply ridiculous.. A daughter is always a daughter, no matter what she decides about her life.
