ArtRave Critique

Gaga was amazing at last night's ArtRave in Pittsburgh. But, I thought I would share my thoughts on the show. First, the opening acts were pretty underwhelming. The first act was an animated anime character dancing with real dancer in the background and some screechy music that didn't sound that great. Then Lady Starlight came out and played a drum machine for like 45 min with no singing. It was pretty monotonous. I know she is Gaga's BFF but the crowd was pretty bored of her by the time she was done. The opening sequence was a bit underwhelming. For the Monster Ball, the arena went dark and then the music and images on the curtain were awesome with Gaga appearing in shadow. That was brilliant. For Artpop, there was no real buildup and then the curtain just dropped and the show opened. The show had a much different feel than Monster Ball which was an intense experience. Artpop was good. But, she played less than 2 hours and she didn't dance anywhere near as much as she did in Monster Ball. She is an awesome dancer and I really enjoy that. And, the Interludes and videos in Monster Ball were soooo artistic and mesmerizing. There was some good footage during the concert but did not have the content of Monster ball. Also, I would have loved to hear some songs from BTW album. She never toured much in this country with that album since she wound up needing surgery. Obviously, she has so many great songs that she has to limit it. I would have preferred some of those and maybe one song from the Fame Era. And, she NEEDS to sing Dope. That is the only song she didn't touch on.

Comparing one to another doesn't mean I didn't LOVE the show. The show was AWESOME. And, as Gaga said her Artpop could mean anything. I understand it was meant to much lighter feeling and it absolutely was a blast. Just comparing the experiences.

dancig par in this pors is really bad because we all know what gaga went trough,and this is RAVE and RAVES dont have story and it would be boring if she does smae thing for every tour........

the thing about dancing less is understandable considering she's just had surgery and she will be touring extensively,so a light choreo is to her advantage.

I missed the story. The tour has no story. At the BTWB, mother GOAT was speaking and holding the "red line" trough the show. At the monster ball they were acting a story...

I do think the Artpop album is awesome. I think that it requires listening to it a bit more to get all the nuances. Ultimately, her work needs to be about the music first. And, as long as she makes great music, the rest all comes together.

Yes. Good points. It was a very sunny, bright show. I think Gaga is amazing and she does everything with care and hard work. I mean she is so larger than life in everything she does but yet very down to earth.

I agree about the opening acts, for the most part. But Starlight was so cute that I didn't mind her. However, my opinions about artRave are very different. The Fame Monster is dark and edgy were ARTPOP is bright. There wasn't a need for the darkness for this tour. The video during Jewels N Drugs is very reminiscent of The Monster Ball, with the intense outfit and mask. This tour is meant to be fun, bright, and loud. I feel she captured that perfectly. I understand why she didn't sing Dope, because it didn't tie into the show. She only needs to sing what she wants to. I wasn't upset with the dancing. After such an awful injury, I'm sure she's trying to keep her health in check. I'd rather her dance less than injure herself again. But to each their own! Not an attack, but just my opinions

about the dance thing: Think that she had a surgery and she is trying to stay healthy! fame era: she sang just dance and poker face btw: btw was enough dont you thing that its time to let some space for artpop songs and new matirial?? dope: she said she wanted a happy start of the tour..

Artrave in Not BTWB Or Monster Ball or Fame Ball .. I accept your opinion but I think you can't compare the balls .. And I think it's good that she doesn't play dope I mean I love dope but it's a party and this song doesn't fit in

She had only a 8 more songs on the monster ball, no need to say it was easier to make some spectacular and visual show. I think on ARTPOP we have to enjoy music the most, we all know she gave everything for these songs. She still has great outfits because her love for Fashion will never end but I think the greatest songs need no additional visual effects :) (can say it for evey artists)

Well I think it good she doesn t dance as much and that the show is shorter because it s better for her health, however I do agree w the fact that gaga during the rave is not as fan to fan sharing :(

Last tour ther was a lot of dancing and we all know how that ended. I really enjoyed the artRave, it being my first gaga concert, and the only thing I would change is the fact that she only played one song from BTW. She told fans backstage at her first concert that she shorter the tour length (and most likely the show) becuz she doesn't wanna get worn out (like she did that tour) but I do agree that starlights performance got a bit boring after awhile, but we all focused r attention to the ARTPOP zone when Taylor, Joe, and Cynthia showed up

First it's a RAVE so it supposed to be full of joy & fun that's why she doesn't sing dope. Then I respect your opinion but I still don't understand why some monsters don't like the ArtRave cause it seems to be the best show ever. So just think that you are very lucky to go at the ArtRave & that lots of monsters would've do anything to go there. Enjoy the music & stop comparing TFM with ARTPOP cause it's really different & both show looks amazing!

The show of lady starlight always is bored...

And, all of her fans aren't teens or young adults. There are many older adults like me who love and admire her too!

And, Gaga has to grow in new directions of course. She can't get stuck in time. We are all on the journey together with her.

I must say that we can´t compare the Monster Ball Tour to artRAVE, I had the privilege of going to the Monster Ball (in Barcelona) and It has nothing to do with artRAVE.It blew my mind.ArtRAVE doesn´t look as exciting as the Monster Ball and in my personal opinion, the problem is that the show has become something too plastic (I went to the Born this way ball also and I must say that I felt disappointed,sincerely I got bored,it hurts to say it because I love Gaga so much but it´s the truth) ,I don´t know but I feel "lack of soul",I´d prefer if She didn´t dance that much and took that time for a great storyline or that emotional speeches she used to give us.Gaga,we want less plastic,more personal shows like You did in the Fame Ball,¡ and Monster Ball.Just my simple opinion.
