I don't know how I'll be able to get you to find this message, Gaga. I know you won't find this instantly, and I'd have to use other means and make multiple attempts to get this message to you but this is my first attempt.
My name is Asad and I'm 18 years old. I live in Karachi, Pakistan. (It's next to India, mind coming here sometimes?) I'm really close to my high school graduation and I'm planning to go to art school after this.
I'm closeted, Gaga. I cannot afford the risks of coming out in a country that has 0% tolerance for homosexuality. It is seen as obscenity here. People here do not understand it that it is not a choice, some people are really born that way and the only thing one can do about it is keep calm and accept it.
My boyfriend tells me about how in the organization he works, spouse of the employee are given equal benefits but I'm deprived of the luxury because my country doesn't recognize same sex couples. Knowing my own country won't protect me under the law and provide me equal rights makes my heart bleed, Gaga. But the sad thing is that it's going to stay that way and no change will come in the 'Islamic Republic' Of Pakistan. I know so because no change will come until the people unite, stand up and risk everything for the change. Here, standing up for rights of the homosexual would mean standing against the very constitution of the country, the religion, your family, it'd make a lot of trouble for you at school and work and everyone will make living harder for you as if life was a bed of roses before and there is going to be no supporting you. It's a losing battle, basically.
I know no change can come until our own people do something about it. I know nothing will happen because nobody in this country will take the risk and stand up for what they want. I know I won't. Who'd wanna fight a losing battle? Nobody wants to make their lives a living hell. Everybody wants to be safe. I know I do. And therefore nobody will raise voice against the injustice and therefore we shall have no change because nothing comes out of nothing and this is just another rant of another Pakistani gay boy who is nothing but coward.
Born This Way, Americano, your songs may work in the States but not here.
I still hope you find this. Somehow.
