Radio Stations are literally refusing to play G.U.Y

I just called one of our local radio stations that have played Gaga's past singles and they play music from artists similar to Gaga (they play Top 40, some alternative and a few oldies here and there), but when I wanted to request G.U.Y she said, "Ummmm we don't even play that". So I asked why not because it's an awesome song and she said it was "not in her control but she will tell that to whoever is". WHAT IS HAPPENING? They play all of Katy's singles and they STILL play singles from The Fame Monster but they WON'T add G.U.Y to their playlist. I don't understand. I called Z107.7 which is our local Z100 to request it and the guy was an asshole first off. He said they don't take requests with such an attitude. He was so mean. But again, the two biggest stations in my area will not play Gaga's new single and I don't know why. It's frustrating. :( @gaga I'm trying so hard and still requesting online wherever I can whenever I get the chance but they just won't play it. :( I'm sorry. I'm trying. I know i'm frustrated trying to get it played, I can't imagine how you feel. But radio charts don't matter. I just want for more people to hear it because it's such a fun song with an incredible video. #venting #GUY #radio #RadioRequest #requestGUY

My radio station 96.5 plays it. They don't play it as often but I hear it at least once time everyday.

Well, I also haven't heard it played on radio stations in my country. I've only heard applause or DWUW, but never G.U.Y.

Not the radio station's fault. There is a whole other world that ya'll don't understand when it comes to contracts, air-wave rules, and money involved. less u all forget that she fired her old manager TROY. Give Bobby (new Manager) to get the ball rolling more. Gaga talked about all this. wish everyone would listen to her, instead if just staring at her picture.

I live in HUll, England and the local radio is capital fm, they play the worst songs such as happy and shitty darkb horse like ten rimes a day but they always used to put gagas singles on ever since justdance now they don't put applause and DWUW maybe because its getting old but I remember when i was little alejandro was on the radio everyday why no gaga songs now?

Illuminati are angry at lady gaga because she criticized them on the video, so they are revenging now, they have the media control so... this is my theory maybe is pathetic, but I can´t find another explanation, becaude guy is a really cool song

KATY PERRY'S NEW SONG IS A SEXUAL SONG. IT'S NOT ACTUALLY ABOUT A BIRTHDAY CAKE. SO WHY THEY REFUSING TO PLAY GAGA'S SONG. PLUS SHE EDITED IT SO IT WAS A CLEAN VERSION AND STILL NO RADIOPLAY. I GIVE UP WITH RADIO STATIONS

I think the industry doesn't want Gaga to be successful with ARTPOP because its a Creative Rebellion AGAINST the industry, so even though the whole world is gonna think shes going downwards, atleast we'll know its never downwards because of her music or talent but by the industry or other factors

That's because, like gaga said, the artist has no power. You can try to manipulate your music into fitting the radio but if just one powerful person in the music industry refuses to play your songs, the mainstream will undoubtedly turn their backs on you. It's interesting, because MJ used to tell fans the same things before being killed. 'Its a conspiracy', he'd say and 'it's time we give the artist back the power'. Remember that gaga said in her SXSW interview? 'It can be so hard to say no, because there are so many people depending on you suddenly' and 'don't sell your soul to this industry, it's not worth it'. I'm not one for conspiracies but I really believe something is going on.
