Click all the pics to see everything! I started working on this outfit last winter. Here's how it works: Headpiece: Trashbags sliced into strips and hand knotted - one by one - into a fishnet wig cap. I wanted it to be bigger, but my artrave got moved from Thursday to Monday! (see more) Boa: Trashbags sliced into strips and hand knotted into a a mesh fabric 1 foot wide that had to be 6 feet long to match my height! I think it took something like 40 hours! Jacket: I made up a pattern in practice fabric before I cut it out of black, patent PVC. I had to add some plastic boning to make it stand out in the mushroom shape like Gaga's. In the first picture shown here, you can't really see it; it just needed to be adjusted for the pic. :( The third pic (the selfie) shows it better. I really need to get all dressed up again and take some more photos. But you can see it in the selfie. Corset: Gaga's was a dress, but I simplfied my outfit and made it easier to take off if I overheated by making it just a top worn separately over a dress. I made up a pattern to fit my body and cut this out of stetch PVC. (No I don't have gaga's pixie like figure and frame, but I don't care - bodies are different I felt fierce anyway!) I installed a metal zipper at the back. Details: I added the peace sign tattoo and the ARTPOP tatto, because they were the ones that would show, and other than that I can't draw the mouse. I did them in gel liner by MAC. Gaga did not wear shoes, but I added my favorite heels (making me about 6'4, no one missed me!) I also hand painted some nails and glued them on while on the metro ride! Stiletto nails are tough to wear! How does Gaga do it? (Having a team to take care of me would have been great!) The blond bob wig was one that I have had for some time- I am wearing it in the profile pic. Makeup - I did a classic gaga neutral eye and gel liner cat eye, with a mauve lip. This whole look isn't all that ravey, but all black is WHAT I DO; I'm sort of a synthpop-obsessed goth. Thank you to all the monsters who asked for my photo and my friend's photo (pink tutu!). You made me feel like a star, and we both felt like stars. If you have photos of us, I'd love to see, because my photos could really be better. My ARTRAVE experience! Wow! What a beautiful, beautiful show! What beautiful people! Such an energetic room! Our seats let us see every part of the stage. OH! And I got to shake Cynthia Germanotta's hand in front of the born-brave booth! Wild! I just stepped up and said "Thank you for everything that you do." shook her hand and then she was very busy, so she ran off. Hope she didn't mind; I know she is camera shy. I thought the born brave booth was wonderfully positive. I shared with the staff there how I taught kids in grades 3 to 6 strategies to empower a victim of bullying. The only bummers were: I am not real happy with my costume photos. This first pic just doesn't do it justice, because we were in a hurry to get on the train, and I didn't have the nails on yet. I am considering doing a special shoot this weekend (would you view my pics?) I wish I had arrived earlier so I could see the line before the show started, but childcare management and real life happen. Lastly, because I was juggling so much stuff, that huge boa, and wearing those stiletto nails, I DROPPED MY WALLET or it was possibly stolen from my purse! Lost about $100. Man! I gotta order a new drivers liscence. I canceled 2 credit cards. Bleh. Oh well. Shit happens.
