Well, here is what Gaga thinks:

I personally think that there are lots of methods to make fur coats that do not involve purposefully torturing the animal in order to achieve a coat. If the animal is treated as humanely as possible in the process, then I have less of a problem. But there are a lot of things unclear about how to treat an animal whose entire life purpose is to be consumed by humans.
For example, I would never wear a clubbed baby seal coat.
My boyfriend has an air bomber jacket made out of real leather he inherited from his family, and it looks beautiful.
I wear a black faux leather jacket and I don't mind either way. I know I'm not wearing anything dead so nothing on my conscience anyhow.
Here is the deal, and the sooner you people understand this the better. The animals will be killed and made into fur. No matter what. NO MATTER WHAT. Creating coats is an artisans trade, it is not just done for a profit. Even if all humans stopped wearing and buying fur they would still make fur coats. So when a person purchases a coat they are celebrating the beauty of nature through fashion. They should not be castigated for not allowing the animal to die in vain. In reality they are not even the ones who killed the animal. Ultimately it comes down to two things. Life is either pointless and finite, or significant and eternal. Either scenarios do not really affect the animal in any significant way.
I don't think she doesn't respect animals, she probably just isn't entirely educated on the subject... I agree with this, fashion can live without killing :) she would probably agree if given the right information <3
