Here's part of my story:
I’ve always loved art and I’ll never forget sitting on my grandpa’s lap while he taught me how to draw Mickey Mouse. I actually have a small portfolio of his that he did when he was in school (back when it was a one room school house) and it’s one of my most prized treasures. They aren’t Rembrandts or Van Goghs, but they were my grandpa’s and we are the only artistic people in my family, so they are priceless to me. I have only taken one art class in my life ever, which was in my senior year of high school. I never felt like I was good enough or creative enough to actually pursue it. I dabbled a bit for a few years after I graduated, but once I got married and started a family I just don’t have the time for it any more. When my daughter turned one I took up cake decorating. I am completely self taught. While I felt restricted with what I could do with a pencil or water colors, I am finding I have much more confidence with this new medium of cake decorating. I am more willing to try something new or take a risk. At first it was kind of a chore, but the better I get at it, the more I am enjoying the process. I’m posting some pictures of the cakes I have done. You can definitely see the progression from beginning to present. I hope you like some of them. #promotekindness #empowerment #myartpopcouldmeananything
