you inspire me every day, but today especially. i've been calling myself a little monster for over 4 months now, since the swinefest. however, i think it was today when i realized what being a little monster means, and what it's actually about. there's the music and the fashion and the technology, and there's the message. the message born this way which struck me today. my classmates were making fun of someone on a movie because she had piercings and died, very stylized hair and glittery makeup, and instead of laughing with them and not thinking about it, i realized it bothered me. i thought of hair, of born this way, and of how each and every human being has the right to express themselves however they want. that can be through their writing, their art, or their appearance. all of them are visual expressions, the only difference is what kind of canvas you use. just because the kids sitting with me thought they looked stupid didnt mean i had too, and they were cruel in their assessment of someone based solely on appearance. later, the teacher showing us the movie asked what we would do if someone 'eccentric and different' as she put it, joined our class. those kids said that they would be scared if they looked like that and wouldnt talk to them. i said that i may initially not understand their look, but that it would be interesting and there's nothing wrong with saying hi, being polite and being a friendly good person, even if you dont necessarily understand the person you're talking to initially, and they're just another kid expressing themselves.. this thought was at the back of my mind for a while, but today i realized how incredibly IMPORTANT it is. thank you for making me realize this. you make me a better person every day. i'm a little monster and im proud to spread the message of kindness and acceptance no matter who you are where you come from how much money you have or who you love. thank you @gaga. i love you.
