It used to be René.
Thanks to Disney's globalization process his name is not René in latinamerica anymore and we have to call him Kermit like in the rest of the world.
In the 80's when the first Muppets movies came to Latinamerica they change his name on the dub because they thought René would be easy to remember for the hispanic speaker countries.
Now that Disney bought The Muppets the change it to the original name.
