NO: I know Lady Gaga said that this album lacks a sense of maturity compared to "Born This Way" and I really liked the direction she was going with "BTW". Also, she said "ARTPOP" had a lot of experimental sounds on it and I don't think it's good to take such a big risk when you are trying to make a "comeback". She also seems to have disregarded her message of love and acceptance she showed in the "BTW" era (doesn't really mention the born this way foundation and what happened to the Born Brave Bus?), and she doesn't say "paws up" anymore ! She isn't on here as much anymore, she doesn't really tweet as often, and if you notice she doesn't really dance on stage like she was before (the dancing though I understand because of her surgery)...
I don't think there is any connection. Hell she doesn't even call us Little Monsters anymore, we are now just fans. She started out right at iTunes Festival and sang I Wanna Be With You, then it got changed to Dope. She kept telling us very exciting things and then nothing happened with it. The APP was supposed to have all of the videos, chats, and lots more but we got some silly GIF making function and basically an audio player for the album which I didn't need. I really think she needs to stop, rewind, and start completely over with the production of the songs and promotions. the album needs to be stripped to its bones and just be what it is. It feels like the songs were forced into being something dancy and fake. I still love her and just hope she finds where she is going.
I just think the dance style is what is messing up some of the songs. Personal songs don't always fit dance music and she really only shines on these songs when they are acoustic to me. The exception is Venus. I think it is perfect as a dance song.
I love ARTPOP, but I believe that Gaga has much more talent and the album could have been better! I love all the sogs and everything, but I see more talent in her
LOVE ARTPOP. In my opinion, it's her boldest, most passionate album yet. She dismisses all musical constructs and with that leads Pop music as a genre to a WHOLE new dimension. I think it's a tough pill for people to swallow right now but most progressive art is at FIRST. In retrospect ARTPOP will absolutely be a viewed as a game changer in the Pop world.
As far as now, I surely am. I have enjoyed all of what gaga puts out there, not because I say "yes" to everything, but because I purely like it. I think that ARTPOP has not been around long enough for people to ... judge it fully, because some may not understand all the meaning behind each song of the album, the meanings behind the lyrics, the visuals and all. Like, many loves Born this way, because it is obviously based on self love, empowerment and acceptance, feminism and all, and those themes are widespread and can apply to a lot of us because it is personal, however the message and themes of artpop may not be as clear yet, but once you find out, discover and immerse yourself behind the artpop idea, you may grow to love it more and more. It's only been a few months.
I like the album, it's great to jog to, but I can't understand why she picked R Kelly. I can't get over what he did and got away with by paying out - it's horrifying. Also, I don't see a marketable single that non-monsters can really connect to the way they did to Just Dance. Jewels and Drugs - this song does not connect to me, but the rapping is phenomenal, I just don't really want to listen to rap in my synthpop. Othewise, I love Venus, GUY, Swine, Sexx Dreams, Applause, Donatella, and Aura. I think BTW was my album - it had a great edge and style.
I have to agree with a lot of people here, I can't seem to connect with the songs as I did with the last 3 albums. I like ARTPOP and I love how happy, open and honest Gaga seems to be with the album and while performing but not my fav era. With all the hype I did expect it to have better songs, especially when she said princess die wasn't going to be in it cause there were better songs. I still think princess die is way better than half the album. But I enjoy it and will continue being a fan and supporting her! And Gaga... Stop teasing your fans with second volumes and a killer app and then not following through. My only complain :p
I love ARTPOP. I'm also fucking well sick of what's radio friendly; when the radio pisses my off with it's friendly pish I switch it off and listen to ARTPOP: simples! Also, while I'm having a rant, I'm also fucking well sick of DJ's on Radio One here in UK banging on about which record will be No.1 The Christmas No.1, the most important no.1 of the charts, the charts, the charts, the fucking numbers bla, bla, I don't give a fuck about the No.1 or any of the other fucking numbers. Just play the music. Thank you.
the theme, the message, the live performances, i love thm, but i dont feel too connected to the music...its still brilliant i mean gaga has outdone herself
This album is a bigger risk because its a new style for her and the music industry. Because it is very personal it's going to be misunderstood. I think this is where some fans will disappear as they learn who she truly is and what she stands for and what her future work will be like. She's becoming more genuine to her character and readily admitting her flaws. This album is very raw in nature, very passionate. Some people may not appreciate the rawness of the album. But there are those who can relate to the rawness of creating art and the adrenaline of presenting that to the entire world to appreciate and adore, or ridicule and demolish.
really? oh well, with born this way she almost lost me as a fan because i'm very secure with myself and life is good... born this way was too preachy for me, artpop won me back however, it's fun joyful and just great edm!
The only aspect I don't like is the promotion, it was such overkill. Revealing the title two years ago, song snippets, lyric snippets, countdowns till the track list/album cover... I think it made the album release less of an 'event' because we'd already heard so much. I hope she cuts down on the promo next album. Most artists don't even release a tracklist beforehand. I also would have liked it to have been more 'experimental'. Apart from that, I love it aha :p
i think in this era we need to stop thinking about us, this album is really really personal to gaga, and she's so happy playing it for us, so be proud of her, if u r trully standing by her side, then support her :)
