This surreal look had me thinking about snakes shedding their skin, which in itself is a common metaphor for renewal or 'rebirth'. The casting off of this skin represents the release of old ways of thinking. The fresh new skin found underneath is rebirth and new beginnings, purification. “The snake which cannot cast its skin has to die.
