THE "DANCE IN THE DARK" THEORY

Monsters ever since Gaga gave her swine speech I've been going back and rethinking the meanings of her songs and one song really stood out to me as a cry for help. Dance In The Dark. The lyrics just stand out so much it's eerie. First of all the beginning, we hear gaga screaming and a sharp guitar sound, she sounds as if she's in pain. Then before the verse starts she screams "I WANNA BE A STAR" this all makes me think that MAYBE a person she trusted, maybe a manager of something was making her have sex with them for success. In the swine fest she emphasis PUSSY not body or anything but pussy, we know right away it was sexual. Now lets move to the chorus, "baby loves to dance in the dark" she turns all the dark things she did, into something beautiful dancing, and when she was "dancing" she not only had to do it in the dark so nobody could see but also so she couldn't, because when she looked at him she fell apart because she knew it was wrong. Also the "boyfriend says she's a tramp" line stands out as well. I found it ironic how much freedom is mentioned in the song, "I'm a free bitch baby" she could have been saying this to express the fact that in fact she was not free but rather a slave to what the record label wanted her to do. And finally the infamous "find your freedom in the music" what if this line is saying that music was the only way for her to express herself and do what she wanted and liberate herself from the people who took control of her. I strongly believe something did happen to gaga in her past.

I'm really sorry to say this and also glad you took time to write and think about an old song. You're right DITD is a cry for help but the Swine theme is something that Gaga never wrote about in any of her song before. I'm a fan since just dance and possibly heard and read any interview she made DITD is about her boyfriend at that time (or what inspired the song - possibly Luc) telling her how much of a tramp she was, speaking down to her, and even though he was treating her like shit and telling her off bc of how she looked, she loved him. "baby loves to dance in the dark" refers to how she wanted to only have sex with the lights off because she was too uncomfortable with her boyfriend see her naked. It's about being always insecure. I really love this, not only because Dance In The Dark is my absolute fav Gaga song ever. But it makes so much sense. It's so refreshing to see someone focussing on the music and the meaningfulness of them and not worrying about petty shit like how Miley looks in her videos or what artists are "beating" LG! Your theory is wonderful!

i thought dance in the dark was her "Fear of Sex" monster cuz she always felt insecure & embarrased to have sex with the guy she loved. i remember seeing an interview of her when the fame monster came out & she said that. this is a good theory tho.

I had doubs on Rob Fusari, I read they were dating but I 'd rather say he might of abused of her for CD productions. I dunno what happenend but there is defo a link between Dance in The Dark Marry The Night and Swine,; In MTN she is wearing that kind of underwear they give ya when u just got an abortion + no intimitie for 2 weeks is the exact laps of time u can't have intercorse when u got an abortion, I still cannot figure out was that bruiise on her back, do u guys 've an idea ? ;(

Pretty sure that the song refers to being the other woman & having to keep your love a secret. Also, letting yourself be treated that way but not leaving cuz you're addicted to the person.

I agree with your theory. I have had the same theory as well. This also correlates with Marry The Night Video. I think she is pretty much spelling it all out in that video. I really do believe she was physically rapped. Also made to do things she was not proud of. The bruises on her back and how she spoke about "making it because she has nothing left to loose". She went through so much to get where she is. She did not give up and she fights everyday. We only know a small portion of what she went through. I know that we should not talk speculate such things, but it is my opinion that she is pretty much spelling out what happened to her. I think when she is ready she will talk about all those painful moments. I think speaking of it will help future stars from getting taken advantage of.

Omg I also had this feeling, when I first heard Dance in the Dark I thought "this is such a powerful song and so much meaning in it" but my question was what? So as I heard over and over I thought some things like maybe she went through some horrible stuff, just like in Marry the Night both the song and video have us more of what she went through and stuff. And now with Swine it's all coming clear.

she yells "make it stop" and I love the way she contradicts herself in the lyrics in the opening. "Silicone, saline, poison, inject me. Baby, IM a free bitch" so she's saying inject her with all this fake shit, but then she goes on and says she's free,? Gaga is beyond anything and her lyrics are always so deep and have more to it than anything.

in ,y opinion it always the 'fame' which shes referring to. shes sacrificing everything to become a star and to be able to be one, you must surrender into an ultimate force of something heavy like the showbizness or something. the 'find your freedom in the music' is that she can only tell us her pain in her music and lyrics because everytime shes in the camera she must be on a certain state. she make her life a story.
