gaga as marilyn here is very symbolic; of course because of the whole warhol using marilyn for his pop art and her wanting to establish ARTPOP. however, marilyn is the ultimate image of the 'icon', and in the applause video, gaga has the icon caged. marilyn was trapped in a way by her 'sex symbol' image; she was failed to be taken seriously, which is a tragedy in itself. her crazy demeanour within the cage throughout the video may be symbolic of that as well - losing control of one's self when not taken seriously. wow this is long, just thought i would share my thoughts. but i was very captivated by the marilyn and gaga side by side image here and it had me thinking. gaga may come off a certain way to the public, but she is a true artist looking to make meaningful art.
I AM LIVING FOR THE CAGED MARILYN MONROE LOOK. UGH.
At first I thought it was a reference from the FAME MONSTER but then I saw the mole lol
Ok; but in other news, not gonna lie, it would be great if the short music video I made for APPLAUSE could be seen by Gaga. If y'all could hype it up a bit, I'd most definitely appreciate it :D
