As a catholic, this statement made me really happy, I admire how he is revolutionizing the Church in light of the Gospel message of love, mercy, and compassion. His statement that meant a 'change in tone' on the Church's stand on homosexuality is something to be really happy about just like the death of DOMA, and the legalization of same sex marriage in diff countries. Cos if our society and the Church are starting to accept homosexuality, the world will surely be a better place to live in. The Church should have done this before, they must accept homosexuality cos even Jesus Christ has two dads ;)
I'm not catholic anymore, but Pope Francis is maybe the best pope of all times, he is really making changes, obviously it will be difficult for the church to accept gay people and marriages, because it's really hard to open their minds for people that never go out of their beliefs. I really respect him, and i hope the church starts doing what it was created for, love, unity and peace
And what if I'm an atheist, huh?! Sorry, but in my opinion, his homophobic. I mean... It's not a choice. This sentence is just part of what he said. He also said that he thinks gays and lesbians are "on the wrong path" or something like that. But I'm glad that at least his not judging it anymore...
He's the pope... he thinks equally of everyone, if he said that about priests, the "Most holy" people, I'm pretty sure he feels the same about all gays
Today this old lady in the waiting room at the doctors was reading a magazine, turned to me and yelled out of no where "HA, THE POPE CAN'T JUDGE THE GAYS BECAUSE HE IS GAY HIMSELF, THEY ARE ALL GAY THERE!" This was so random and I tried so hard not to burst out laughing...
Than she tried to convince me that Obama is the new Hitler. I just nodded and and was like "aha, very interesting"... so wired.
I am Catholic and I admire this Pope! He's different from others and I just wanna say that it's normal that the Pope is not agree for the gay-marriage, the Church isn't, but what he said it's an important step!! During this years many country legalised gay-marriage,but there are many country that they dont, like Italy for example (I'm Italian) but I think one day these country will do it!! We must believe it an fight for this! I'm not lesbian or bi but I'm with you!!! I'm catholic but I support gay rights :)
We are making a lot of "sins" as it's written in Bible, but i never thought God will judge us for any of them. gays have loving heart and believe to God and bless him, so why it's so bad? everybody makes sins, and if love is a sin, it's just the one of our sins.
