My mother broke her right shoulds on May 4th, we took her to a private clinic and the doctor, expert in shoulders told us that she would have to go through an emergency surgery on her shoulder, according to the doctor, she would have to put a plate or a prosthesis, but as the clinic was private and my mother doesn't have medical insurance, the surgery would cost more than 45 thousand reais, and we don't have conditions to afford this price, so the doctor gave a letter to that she could be taken to surgery in a public hospital, I took my mother to the hospital and the doctor hospitalized her, and she kept waiting the surgey, she was in a place in horrible conditions for 24 hours, in a room with men and women, where were no beds available, and she stayed in a wheel chair, after this the same doctior who hospitalized my mom, released her and scheduled an appointment with the expert from the public hospital, on May 9th, I took my mom to this appointment and the doctor said there was no way to take her into surgery, because according to the doctor, it would be necessary to wait her bones get together by themselves, (the bones that are not in place) and that my mother would lose the movements of her arm, so my mother went back home feeling much paon and is with her shoulder broken yet, it is very swollen, i don't know what to do. Brazil is investing billions for World Cup and forgets about public health, and we are the ones who pay the price. I just wanted to help my mother. I took her to other hospitals and the only thing they say is "you have to go back to the hospital where your mother had the first appointment", this hospital is the one which didn't help my mother. Now, I wonder how it's not possible to make a surgery in her arm, if the first doctor gave a letter to take her on surgery? Maybe SUS wants to cut its expenses or maybe because my mother is a 60 year old woman and they negligence her? Tomorrow (june, 04) is one month she is with fractured shoulder. i'm nothing asking help, I only want to show how is public health in my country.
