I never knew the true meaning of the facial & shoulder prosthetics until watching a documentary on isabelle Caro. She was a french model who was very anorexic & eventually led campaigns against anorexia. If you look at some of GaGa's photo shoots with this look, it's quite clear that she's channelling isabelle in the most positive, uplifting manner. I now understand that it's a political statement, & while I always knew it was meant to convey "we are beautiful in our way", I never understood the implication until learning about Isabelle, GaGa in a way is fighting for her cause against anorexia. It's quite genius, she's mocking the media & the "twig thin" philosophy that we have to be thin, she's showing that if that's the case, this is what we'll eventually look like, just skin & bones.
