It's actually December 21 2012, 21/12/2012. The Mayan calender simply ran out of room on their giant stone calender. There's more to it, but I'm not going to explain all here in the comments :P It's a fun little topic to do some research on; The world isn't ending :) (Hopefully no one actually believes it will on that day, cause that would be pretty idiotic.)
