Why do people think you're gay because you like Lady Gaga.

I'm said to be gay because I like Lady Gaga and her point of views on society .. I think she's the best artist and most shocking yet moving one at that. I'm not gay but people assume I'm gay because I'm not what society stereotypes as the alpha male.. I prefer to be around a lot of female and I like pop music and I actually care and genuinely is a nice person.. s why am I gay? Cause I don't treat people like dogs or think homosexuality is a bad thing? People need to stop JUDGING people and at least take time to understand themselves.

I think because we follow Gaga in such an intimate and close way our understanding of the public perception of Gaga becomes deluded. The public perceive her as a crazy outfit wearing person, and apparently now, someone with gay fans.

I think the best you can do is ignore all of them, That's just superficial and stupid of how people react. Like Lady Gaga said, Ignore all hatred and criticism and Live for what you create and die protecting it

I understand where you are coming from. Despite the fact I am a female with a lot of gay friends, I do work in a place presently until VERY RECENTLY (read: they probably still make fun of me behind my back and call me a lesbian but I just don’t care) thought anything to do with Lady Gaga was gay, strange, and vulgar. Therefore, anyone that listened to her male or female was secretly gay or a lesbian. When posed with the question “Well you know she is gay right?” I said: “No, she isn’t. She has said she is bisexual. There is a difference. She does happen to be someone who supports and champions gay rights. What is so wrong with that?” When no one could come up with a response that fit the situation I was told “Well, Bad Romance is pretty good.” And you know what, my Dad likes Lady Gaga. He is still happily married to my mother. He believes in gay rights. Does not make him gay. Honestly, my friend, you are going to be far ahead other straight males because you like being around a lot of females. Just remind any “dude” who gives you crap from now on. Way to be a sensitive, cultured guy of the 21st century! Paws up!

Lots of straight people like lady gaga. I think stereotypes are a way for people to make sense of the world. And a lot of people get uncomfortable when these patterns of thought, their values and their beliefs are challenged. They don't like feeling uncomfortable - it scares them, so they reject any creeping sense that something is not right with their worldview, and they hold steadfast to their narrow, oversimplified and sometimes bigoted beliefs. My 2c.

before i told my parents i was bi, my mom kept making the same assumptions. even though she turned out to be right with what she was assuming, the negativity she implied toward not being straight/being a gaga fan really upset me. i know not all lady gaga fans are gay. not at all. if you're gaga fan, be proud. no matter what your sexual preference is. :) "no matter gay, straight, or bi, lesbian, transgender life... [you're] on the right track, baby..." <3 ignore the negativity. embrace who you are.
