I feel so sorry for you Aaron, unfortunately in Turkey, where I'm living, LGBT people + prostitutes suffer from such attacks. Although according to the constitution Turkey is a secular country, 99% of people living in Turkey are Muslim and many of them treat such people badly under the assumption that they are abnormal and cursed (!). Actually Turkey is one of the countries in the world, where homophobia is pretty widespread and at the same time homosexuality is a dominant trend. However, as the hierarchical relationship between men and women originates from being active and passive, a quite high number of men in Turkey do not consider themselves "gay" or "bisexual" because of the false and common belief that in order to be considered gay, one should be just passive (!). In order to hide their sexual orientation, they prefer marrying women and having kids, which is the most apparent proof (!) for their masculinity (!) and heterosexuality. I just wanted to share with you the situation in Turkey and to tell you that we as little monsters and sociologists will change the world starting by changing the mindset of people around us and courage is the most indispensable tool we need in order to change the world and live our identity freely.
