i don't think she was just diagnosed. i think she just told us. i could be wrong. she may have had it for awhile (maybe it is only borderline positive) and she may have it under control.

Systemic lupus erythematosus (i/sɪˈstɛmɪk ˈluːpəs ˌɛrɪθiːməˈtoʊsəs/), often abbreviated to SLE or lupus, is a systemic autoimmune disease (or autoimmune connective tissue disease) that can affect any part of the body. As occurs in other autoimmune diseases, the immune system attacks the body's cells and tissue, resulting in inflammation and tissue damage.[1] It is a Type III hypersensitivity reaction caused by antibody-immune complex formation. SLE most often harms the heart, joints, skin, lungs, blood vessels, liver, kidneys, and nervous system. The course of the disease is unpredictable, with periods of illness (called flares) alternating with remissions. The disease occurs nine times more often in women than in men, especially in women in child-bearing years ages 15 to 35, and is also more common in those of non-European descent.[2][3][4] SLE is treatable using immunosuppression, mainly with cyclophosphamide, corticosteroids and other immunosuppressants; there is currently no cure. SLE can be fatal, although with recent medical advances, fatalities are becoming increasingly rare. Survival for people with SLE in the United States, Canada, and Europe has risen to approximately 95% at five years, 90% at 10 years, and 78% at 20 years,[4] and now approaches that of matched controls without lupus.

Although we have never met, I care about you. I prefer to wait until you or your friend, Ms. Gaga posts what is really going on with you medically. It is just a privacy and rights issue, but I know that Sabrina and all of us have heard the rumors. Please try to listen to soft, meditation music and remain very positive. Research has shown that in some illnesses that there was an improvement. I care very deeply for you as you and Ms. Gaga are friends, and that is good enough for me. I will pray tonight and everynight for a speedy and recoverable illness. Maybe you are just sooo exhausted. I send all the care and love to you. You are special to me.
