One morning in 2010 getting ready to go to work, I had CNN playing in the background. They usually play music clips to and from commercial breaks. That morning, I suddenly heard a beautiful, powerful voice that blazed straight into my heart. It was Lady Gaga singing "Poker Face". From that moment, I began to follow the trail of this mysterious girl...in total astonishment: she was so young, so smart, so poised, so beautiful, so talented, so visionary, so warm...and so incredibly successful! In a time chock-full of great celebrities, so swooshed to the stratosphere on a unicorn, surpassing them all, yet two things made her especially unique to me: in essence, she seemed grounded in family and to truly love her fans. This combination of awesome talent and concern for the little ones just won me over. Yes, Lady Gaga has made my life better, for one simple reason: this is a girl who has "conquered the world", yet she is moved only by love and integrity. With her music, she has given me many moments of joy and, with her example, she has revived idealism in my heart, rousing me to rekindle my own considerable talents with the right heart, as she has: you can "conquer the world" yet still be gentle to the least of your brothers. At Guadalajara last year, she braved a concert-long downpour with all us Monsters, never once flinching, just leaving it all onstage. It's been a breathtaking ride these past two years! I have sat at the feet of many leaders and so-called leaders in my time. Several have actually betrayed me and left me empty-handed, wondering at their utter indifference and disregard for my feelings towards them. After two years of knowing her, Gaga is right up there with my greatest mentors such as Napoleon Hill, Muhammad Ali, Steven Covey and Michael Jordan. She is beginning to pass the test of time in my heart and it is with all my heart that I truly believe she will always be our one-and-only Gaga. Gaga is propelled by love and a passion for freedom of self-expression. As she invites us to, let us follow that same way, for that's what life is all about!
