Unpopular Opinion: Fur
Unpopular Opinion: Fur
Wearing fur is fabulous, fierce, and is a symbol of status. For hundreds and hundreds of years, people have been wearing fur for the sake of practicality and for looks. If I could I'd wear fur every single day of the week, rabbit, ermine, sable, etc. I'd wear it all.
If you wear leather products or eat meat and then feel like you can go out of your way to read people for wearing fur like, I feel like you're missing something. The injustices suffered by animals living on factory farms out weight those suffered by those living on fur farms or that are trapped immensely. In addition to being inhumane, there are terrible environmental, political, and health issues associated with factory farming.
Some people think that its okay to write off leathers as being okay or not the same as meat because they are a by-product. Simply not always the case. Cow hide and lambskin, sure. Ostrich skin maybe. But what about alligator and python? Or even kangaroo leather? Nobody thows shade for people wearing uggs, cause if you think that many people eat sheep in australia, you're dead wrong.
Even wool and down, the sheep and goats are certainly abused in commercial wool operations. And ducks and geese suffer too in commercial down operations. Even commercial fishing operations. Nobody gets upset about fish sticks.
Or what about the MEAT DRESS. Like basically the most iconic thing ever of 2010. Lady Gaga wore RAW MEAT. Monsters were not ever bitter about that.
But whatever, the point is that if you're going to read Gaga and whoever else for wearing fur and claim it "disgusts" you or whatever, I hope to God that belts and pillows and soap disgust you too.
God bless America.
