Stronger together
Stronger together
What are we as women in our society? Who do we wanna be and what do we want to do?
I am not part of Hollywood and I will never be, but the words and the concepts she expressed during this speech (link below), resonate throughout my whole life.
Sometimes when I get ready to go to the office and I am trying on different outfits and putting on makeup, I think:
"Why can't I just be myself and wear a suite and no makeup just like men do?
Why do men and also other women think that there is something wrong with me if I am not wearing makeup or a beautiful dress when I go to work?"
One day I was talking to a friend and she told me that sometimes when she is in the office and she is wearing a dress she gets some staring eyes from her male colleagues and she freezes. She feels like an object.
It happens to me too and it also happens that men and women think that you are trying to impress and make a career move by being sexy and provocative.
What I am trying to say is that we all feel or we felt exactly how she described in this speech. We can all relate to this and we should take our power back.
It doesn't matter if we are musicians, actresses, famous, not famous, employers or employees, we have all experienced these situations and feelings in our lives. Now I think it is time for us to change this, we need to wear the pants and take our power back to be seen as humans and as we want to be seen.
It hurts me when I hear that when she said what she went through no one offered her the help she needed or just a shoulder she could cry on.
It almost feels like people were telling her:" You deserved it, now deal with it". But the truth is that no one deserves that. NO ONE.
We should be there for each other and we should care for each other, especially when we know that we have lived a similar situation or a similar feeling. It is as if we hide our head under the sand no to see other people's pain and also our pain. If there is something I learnt from her music is that feeling someone else's pain, we can heal our own.
That day when she did that speech (link is below) she shared with us her pain as she always did and she helped us going on. She was braver and stronger and she made us stronger too.
Now we should do the same for her. And by this, I don't mean thank her for the music but really listen to her, not like Gaga, but as Stefanie.
Stefanie, the girl who suffered and still struggles but keeps going because she has a dream and she wants to make people smile and dance through the pain.
We should start looking out for each other and maybe this way we can take something back.
If you feel like doing it, please share your experiences and your thoughts, I believe that together we can be strong and build a kinder and braver world.
Thanks for reading,
Love, Carlotta.
