Sexuality
Sexuality
I posted this on my Facebook and I just don't get my family. I am more than my sexuality. yes it is apart of me but there is way more to me... please read it :)
So I have internally been debating posting this for awhile. The people that are close to me and that are in my everyday life will not be suprized, but the people that are not in my everyday life may be shocked about what I am about to say. I am not hiding who I am I just choose not to exploit things that I know certain people in my life do not agree with. If they ask then I will tell them but why would I bring up a subject that would just anger them? Those of you who knew me years before I have one thing to say. People change, they grow up and, views change. My views will most likely still change in the future. This post is not to judge or offend anyone it is me expressing what I feel about this subject and what I think needs to be expressed to the people in my current world.
Why is our society so focused on a person's sexuality? Just because someone is gay or straight, for that matter it does not define the type of person they are. It does not say that a person will be kind, happy, compassionate, rude, angry, or that they will have a certain type of personality trait. Sexuality should not be a person's way of defining themselves or other people. My sexuality does not define whether I am kind, loving, or goofy with the people I am around. I am me to the full extent regardless of my sexuality. As sexuality is a part of a person it is not the full being of a person. A person has a personality, they have feelings and, dreams that can and cannot be based around sexuality. That is what should define a person! There dreams, aspirations and, who they are as a person! All I am saying is that I wish certain people in my life would stop focusing on what they call "my problem" or "my struggle" and take a look at me beyond what they disagree with. That they would look at me as a person that has a personality, that loves to make people laugh, and who enjoys caring for people.
Now if you who have read the post have questions just comment. :) Like once stated this was not meant to offend anyone who has a opposing view on the subject of Homosexuality/Heterosexuality. This was just a way and a platform for me to express to those who I have not expressed to before my view on people's sexuality. Thank you for reading.
