I'm going to tell you all a story.
I'm going to tell you all a story.
It's kind of dumb, but it's about this dream I had a looooooong time ago when I was in college. I swear it's relevant to Mother Monster...and also why Edge of Glory is probably my all time favorite song.
It was 2011 and I had this massive crush on a guy I was classmates with. The only problem was that I was so painfully shy and could never muster the courage to talk to him beyond a meek "Hi". Like seriously, we had classes together and I could never make myself talk more to him.
Now, I'm not really sure if soul mates ACTUALLY exist, but there was just something bigger at play here. It felt like some invisible universal force was telling me "It's this guy, right here!" To this day, I'm still baffled by this feeling. But I digress, back to my story...
So, this dream guy is one semester ahead of me, thus he was fixing to graduate and I might not get the chance to at least TALK to him more than a simple hello. It was frustrating. Well, one night I have this dream where there was this giant spirit day event on campus (think like a campus wide celebration) and every student, professor, and staff member was outside celebrating. Then, everyone started to pair up for some event that was going to happen. I looked around for the guy I was crushing on and I see him, sitting alone a few feet behind me. As people were pairing up, everyone was just so happy and loving and the atmosphere was just so euphoric and positive. I make my way to him and he sees me. As I finally reach him I'm standing right in front of where he's sitting. Then, the only words out of my mouth to him were "There ain't no reason you and me should be alone tonight...". I extend my hand to him and he takes it and we are paired off like everyone else. He smiles. I smile.
Then, I woke up.
Now, having had this dream, I took it as a sign to talk to my crush and at least get to know him better. For some reason, Edge of Glory gave me confidence... At least symbolically. And the crazy thing is that we actually became friends in the years after that.
Then, we became girlfriend and boyfriend.
And now, 10 years later, we're engaged to each other!
I actually told him about this dream awhile back and he found it amusing. He joked that Lady Gaga gave me words of wisdom in the dream world in a cryptic manner.
This is actually one of the few dreams I can recall very vividly and everytime I think about it, I can't help but smile.
