THE FAME MONSTER: Did you know...?
THE FAME MONSTER: Did you know...?
During her journey around the world Gaga composed all the songs that form her album The Fame Monster. If The Fame talked about the positive sides of being famous, The Fame Monster will be about the total opposite: the dark side of fame.
She had a difficult struggle to choose the covers of the album: she wanted to symbolize the yin and yang (Blonde Lady Gaga covering her face vs Dark-Haired Gaga with a black tear running down her cheek). The record company didn’t want to release these covers, due to the dark, gothic and confusing feeling they showed; but finally Gaga ended up winning this fight.
Each song of the album represents Lady Gaga’s fears, or monsters.
❤️ 𝕭𝖆𝖉 𝕽𝖔𝖒𝖆𝖓𝖈𝖊: Represents the monster of obsession. The obsession that leads a woman to fall deeply in love with a man and unconsciously create “A Bad Romance” (want everything of that person)
🖤 𝕬𝖑𝖊𝖏𝖆𝖓𝖉𝖗𝖔: Represents the monster of love, or the fear of falling in love with a friend. Gaga tells us the love story symbolized by Alejandro, Roberto and Fernando. She doesn’t want to be controlled by the emotions of Alejandro, but she is at the same time in love with Fernando and rejects Alejandro because he reminds her of her ex Roberto. It is a complicated love story that leaves us thinking if Alejandro is more than a simple song…
🤎 𝕸𝖔𝖓𝖘𝖙𝖊𝖗: Represents the monster of sex. During this period, Gaga didn’t experience true love and she was afraid of being hurt by men. That’s why she called all of them ‘Monsters’. In this song, she knew that that boy wasn’t the best option for her, but at the same time, she couldn’t forget him. In a nutshell, she realizes that sex is what made her feel attached to the boy.
🤍 𝕾𝖕𝖊𝖊𝖈𝖍𝖑𝖊𝖘𝖘: Represents the monster of death. It is a song influenced by Queen’s ballads and it is dedicated to her father, Joseph Germanotta, who went through a serious open-heart surgery. In this song she states that if her father died, she would end her music career to take care of her sister and mother.
💙 𝕯𝖆𝖓𝖈𝖊 𝖎𝖓 𝖙𝖍𝖊 𝖉𝖆𝖗𝖐: Represents the monster of self-approval. The songs talks about a girl who has sex with the lights off, because she is scared of showing her naked body to her boyfriend. As you all know, Gaga always wants us to love ourselves the way we are.
💜 𝕾𝖔 𝖍𝖆𝖕𝖕𝖞 𝕴 𝖈𝖔𝖚𝖑𝖉 𝖉𝖎𝖊: Represents the monster of addiction. It is one of her biggest fears: Being prey to alcohol or drugs and using them to give a solution to her problems, to feel happy and to avoid reality.
💘 𝕿𝖊𝖑𝖊𝖕𝖍𝖔𝖓𝖊: Represents the monster of suffocation. Gaga is scared of not being able to do what she wants due to work issues or a bad relationship. The telephone symbolizes pressure.
💗 𝕿𝖊𝖊𝖙𝖍: Represents the monster of truth. This song clears up that truth is the key point to start a relationship. Through sincere communication we can show how we are (show me your teeth). Nevertheless, there are plenty of meanings for this song, such as not being afraid of showing our personal fetishes.
